An Anahiem/New Mex type pepper. This medium sized plant produces 6 to 8 inches long by 1 to 2 inches pendant shaped pods which mature from green to red. Said to good for roasting and use in Stir Fries.

Many peppers are called Aji Amarillo as it simply translates into 'Yellow Pepper' and hence is alternative name, 'Aji Yellow'. These plants can reach 5-6 feet in a single season, with fruits averaging 6-7 inches in length. The fruits start off green maturing to orange, typically 120 days after transplanting. The fruits are quite pungent and are usually dried and powdered for use in many Peruvian and Bolivian dishes. 40,000-50,000 Scoville units places them at the medium/hot pungency end of the heat scale. Llisted as United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) variety PI 152217

This plant produces high yields of 2 ½" long by 1" wide hot peppers which mature from green, to orange and finally to red approximately 85 days after transplanting. This plant also displays the distictive 'Aji type' white flowers with greenish-yellow markings around the Corolla.

Aji Ayucullo is an original and native name that has no meaning nor translation. This Aji variety is a small, thick-fleshed, oval-shaped Aji. It is a wild capsicum variety found in the Peruvian jungle, central region and the Chanchamayo and Villa Rica valleys. The Aji Ayucullo is not commercially grown but is harvested from wild plants.
